This is a fairly large oil painting inspired by the Kalevala collection of Finnish mythology in which the mother goddess floats in the ocean of space. A bird lands on her knee and lays a nest. The goddess accidentally stirs the nest and an egg cracks which forms heaven and earth. Several years later a virgin birth produces a fully grown man who is the first of mankind and a wise sage. It's a strange and interesting creation story.
