Yaaaaaaay! I've finally finished it!
Notice the new shopping tab? It's been in the works for a few weeks now and is finally ready to go on the site. It's a VERY large database of shops in Bournemouth, Poole, and the surrounding areas. Starting off with about 5,400 shops. Majority in Bournemouth and Poole town centres. You can search by type of shop, location, name of shop, and eventually by what the shop sells. There are hand written descriptions, reviews and ratings, buses to where the shop is (!!), and nearby shops. NOW :D The database of shops is not perfect. I've spent a few weeks compiling it, but you can imagine that it's quite hard to get your head around 5,000 bits of information until it's actually used in a real way (ie: as it is now on the site). I've already weeded it down from 8,000 to 5,000 shops. But there will still be some duplicates, some shops that have closed, some that have changed names. So! Whilst I shall be doing this too, you guys can help and that'd be awesome. Basically - on every shop's page there is this; 
Every user is invited to make changes to the shops details. It's like this: whilst I have gathered all the addresses and bits, I'm only now slowly writing the descriptions. So! By clicking make changes not only can you fix any wrong bits, but you can also write a description for that shop. And I would be one thousand times grateful if you guys could have a go at some of that! That and the Add Products thing - if you look at The Photo Shop in Poole (you will see this is a complete shop listing!), there is a 'Products' bit. This allows users to search for specific products (ie: search for 'film' and the photo shop comes up). If you use the Add Products link you can fill this out for every shop! Foof yes! That's a long post - but basically NEW SHOPPING SECTION! PLAY! EXPLORE! SUGGEST CHANGES! REVIEW SHOPS YOU WANT TO REVIEW! RATE THEM! YAY! That! And if you notice a shop isn't there (and there is a few!) - add it with the 'Add Shop' link on the left menu! (AND any comments? :D) xxxxxxxxxxx |
